Kenrick Ritchie
I was born in the ‘Edinburgh of the South’ Dunedin, New Zealand, where I spent the first 36 years of life. With approximately 120,000 residents Dunedin is the second-largest city in the South Island, and the principal city of the Otago region. Dunedin is most famous for being a student city with New Zealand’s oldest University, the University of Otago. In January 2016 I moved to my current home town Nelson, which is located at the very top of the South Island. Established in 1841 Nelson is the second-oldest settled city in New Zealand and is renowned for its thriving local arts and crafts scene as well as being the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park and Nelson Lakes National Park.
I’m 37 years of age, recently married to wonderful wife Allie and have 3 siblings, an older brother, a younger brother and a younger sister, who along with my three niece's, three nephew's and mum and dad also live in Nelson. I consider myself to be an outdoors type of person, who has a passion for a wide array of sports. Like most ‘Kiwi’ males I grow up playing Rugby Union, and played club rugby for eighteen consecutive seasons for the Kaikorai Rugby Football Club. The highlight of my career came in 2000 when I won the Otago Rugby Union’s Under 21 Championship on my beloved Carisbrook (Former home ground of the Otago Razorbacks). After retiring for Rugby Union in 2011 I switch my focus to running. I have currently run four Half Marathon’s with my best time of 1hr 31min 18sec coming in the 2015 Christchurch Half Marathon. I also enjoy the much shorter sprint distance of five kilometres with my personal best time of 19min 41sec coming in December 2016. I am plaining to compete in my first full distance marathon in June 2017.
In August 2012 I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commence, majoring in both management and marketing and I am currently studying my Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Personal Training though Fit College New Zealand.
